Festival of Cultures
The Festival of Cultures invites you to experience a journey through the world and its cultures.
The Festival of Cultures (formerly the International Culture Café (IKC)) takes place every semester. Within the framework of the respective event, culinary delicacies and a program with music, dances and other cultural attractions are offered with the help of international students. Sometimes the focus of the IKC is on a specific country or continent, sometimes cultures from all countries of the world are represented. As part of this, international students from all over the world who study at TU Dortmund University and FH Dortmund can present different traditions, culinary delights and attractions from their home countries.
With more than 12 different countries, such as Brazil, Libya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Syria, Cameroon and India, cultures from every corner of the globe were represented at the Festival of Cultures on 10 November 2023.
Save the date: June 2024
The next Festival of Cultures Summer Edition will take place in June 2024.
Festival of Cultures - Summer Semester 2023

The "Festival of Cultures" took place for the 15th time on May 5th, 2023 - for the first time in the Food Fakultät on the campus of TU Dortmund University.
Getting in touch with international students from all over the world, eating and dancing together and traveling the world at the same time – this is what the “Festival of Cultures” offers to students and visitors. This year again, many international students of TU Dortmund University and FH Dortmund, with lots of time and love, prepared culinary delicacies from their countries and a colorful program of dances and songs. At the 15 cultural stands, around 250 visitors were able to taste delicacies from 15 countries of almost every continent in the world and talk to each other.
Besides delicious food, the cultural stands also offered country-specific decorations, information materials and various cultural activities. Dance performances and songs from different cultures were presented to the audience. The audience was carried away by the performances and at the end, all those present danced and cheered together to music from around the world. “I thought the Festival of Cultures was great. One could try many international dishes. It was also easy to get into conversations with others. I particularly enjoyed the dance performances. They created an excellent atmosphere,” said Katharina Dietz who studies applied cultural and literary studies at TU Dortmund University. "I was there to meet international students and to support the event in general, because I would have been very happy about something similar in my own semester abroad in France."
The Festival of Cultures was organized and supported in cooperation with the International Office of TU Dortmund University , the International Office of the FH Dortmund, the AStAs of both universities and the Studierendenwerk Dortmund. This festival is financed by the Federal Foreign Office and the DAAD.
