International Career Fair

Information for Companies

The next International Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the IBZ.

Is your company internationally active or are you currently developing new markets? Are you looking for qualified young academics who are well-trained in their field and have intercultural and foreign language skills? Take the opportunity to talk to potential new employees at the next International Career Fair!

In previous years, we have already achieved very pleasing results with the International Career Fair, both for the participating companies from the district of the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce and for the international talents. The 11th International Career Fair further strengthened these positive effects and at the same time made even better use of the region's great potential. The fair is organized by the International Office of TU Dortmund University and the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

What is so special about this fair?

  • The international orientation: The International Career Fair is aimed primarily at foreign graduates and students. The young personalities come to our university from all continents and are given the opportunity to study, do research or complete internships in regional companies with an international context. Almost 4,000 students from abroad are enrolled at TU Dortmund University, most of them in the so-called MINT subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technical subjects). This mutual exchange strengthens and expands the global network of Dortmund as a location. Foreign language skills, international study experience and intercultural experience of this group of students make our graduates particularly interesting for your international business.
  • The perfectly arranged and fitting appointments with your desired candidates: The exhibitors at the International Career Fair define in advance which profile the suitable candidates should ideally have. Before the fair, the organizers will then match the candidates so that you will receive a broad selection of potential employees and their CVs, from which you can select the graduates to be interviewed in the morning. As a result, the morning interviews are highly targeted and yield maximum benefit for both sides. In the afternoon, the format is open and students from all disciplines can visit the fair without pre-registration.

The fair was held in 2022 as a face-to-face event with a hygiene concept in the International Meeting Centre.

What do students expect from the career fair?

When registering, international students indicate whether they are looking for an internship, would like to write their final thesis with a company or want to start their first job after graduation. Therefore, your offers should ideally also be as concrete as possible.

Who organizes this event?

The International Career Fair is organized by the International Office of TU Dortmund University and the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

What does the participation in the event cost?

Participation in the career fair is free both for companies and students.

Where does the career fair take place?

The fair takes place in the International Meeting Centre (IBZ), Emil-Figge-Str. 59, on the North Campus of TU Dortmund University. Sufficient parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity of the IBZ. The International Meeting Center offers an excellent venue for networking between the university and the regional economy. The construction of the International Meeting Center (IBZ) has already shown that science and business in Dortmund are moving closer together: the building was financed mainly by donations from companies in Dortmund and the region. The students of TU Dortmund University have also made a major contribution to the center with their tuition fees.

Location & approach

The campus of TU Dortmund University is located close to interstate junction Dortmund West, where the Sauerlandlinie A 45 (Frankfurt-Dortmund) crosses the Ruhrschnellweg B 1 / A 40. The best interstate exit to take from A 45 is "Dortmund-Eichlinghofen" (closer to Campus Süd), and from B 1 / A 40 "Dortmund-Dorstfeld" (closer to Campus Nord). Signs for the university are located at both exits. Also, there is a new exit before you pass over the B 1-bridge leading into Dortmund.

To get from Campus Nord to Campus Süd by car, there is the connection via Vogelpothsweg/Baroper Straße. We recommend you leave your car on one of the parking lots at Campus Nord and use the H-Bahn (suspended monorail system), which conveniently connects the two campuses.

TU Dortmund University has its own train station ("Dortmund Universität"). From there, suburban trains (S-Bahn) leave for Dortmund main station ("Dortmund Hauptbahnhof") and Düsseldorf main station via the "Düsseldorf Airport Train Station" (take S-Bahn number 1, which leaves every 20 or 30 minutes). The university is easily reached from Bochum, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and Duisburg.

You can also take the bus or subway train from Dortmund city to the university: From Dortmund main station, you can take any train bound for the Station "Stadtgarten", usually lines U41, U45, U 47 and U49. At "Stadtgarten" you switch trains and get on line U42 towards "Hombruch". Look out for the Station "An der Palmweide". From the bus stop just across the road, busses bound for TU Dortmund University leave every ten minutes (445, 447 and 462). Another option is to take the subway routes U41, U45, U47 and U49 from Dortmund main station to the stop "Dortmund Kampstraße". From there, take U43 or U44 to the stop "Dortmund Wittener Straße". Switch to bus line 447 and get off at "Dortmund Universität S".

The H-Bahn is one of the hallmarks of TU Dortmund University. There are two stations on Campus Nord. One ("Dortmund Universität S") is directly located at the suburban train stop, which connects the university directly with the city of Dortmund and the rest of the Ruhr Area. Also from this station, there are connections to the "Technologiepark" and (via Campus Süd) Eichlinghofen. The other station is located at the dining hall at Campus Nord and offers a direct connection to Campus Süd every five minutes.

The AirportExpress is a fast and convenient means of transport from Dortmund Airport (DTM) to Dortmund Central Station, taking you there in little more than 20 minutes. From Dortmund Central Station, you can continue to the university campus by interurban railway (S-Bahn). A larger range of international flight connections is offered at Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), which is about 60 kilometres away and can be directly reached by S-Bahn from the university station.

The facilities of TU Dortmund University are spread over two campuses, the larger Campus North and the smaller Campus South. Additionally, some areas of the university are located in the adjacent "Technologiepark".
