Application Information for non-EU/EEA Nationals

Are you non-EU/EEA citizen, have­ acquired your university entrance qualification­ outside the EU/ERW area and would like to­ apply­ for a Bachelor's degree­ in the 1st semester?

Applications are submitted via uni-assist, the processing and service center for international student applications.

Application Period for the Summer Semester

approx. 15 November to 15 January (cut-off period)

Application Period for the Winter Semester

approx. 15 March to 15 July (cut-off period)

Please note: As it takes some time to process your application, we recommend that you submit your application as early as possible!

Information for prospective Indian students on the APS certificate

Applicants for Bachelor's degree programs from India have to have their certificates checked by the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS India) of the German Embassy in New Delhi before they can apply in Germany. After a positive review, they receive an APS certificate, which must be submitted as part of the application.

The following applies for the Winter semester 2024/2025:

Applicants for Bachelor's degree programs with Indian educational certificates require an APS certificate for their application to uni-assist. The APS certificate must be submitted within the regular application period. Applications will only be delivered to TU Dortmund University if they include an APS certificate.

The processing and service center for international student applications, uni-assist, checks on behalf of TU Dortmund University whether foreign educational certificates correspond to the level of a German university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, HZB) and then calculates the HZB grade.

In preparation for an application via the processing and service center for international student applications,uni-assist, prospective students have to register in the online portal "My assist". After successful registration, online applications can be created and submitted for any desired degree program. All documents which are relevant for the application procedures must be uploaded to the application. It is not necessary to send these documents by post.

Please use this checklist to find out about the documents required for your application. Your complete documents must reach uni-assist before the application deadline. However, we recommend that you apply as early as possible. Only this allows some room for a subsequent or later delivery of any missing documents!

  • Proof of successfully passed university entrance examination
  • Subject and grade overviews of your studies
  • certificate of completion of studies
  • Information on the grading system of your­ university
  • Highest proof of your German language skills
  • In case of name change: Certificate of the name change

Additional Mandatory Documents for Applicants from China, India or Vietnam

  • APS Certificate
  • Group APS are ­only accepted if they are­ specifically issued for TU­ Dortmund University.

For individual study programs, special program-specific documents are required in addition to the general application documents. Please inform yourself in advance, which study program specific documents you need.

Processing costs are incurred for the examination of your application documents by uni-assist.
