Change of Degree Program
Are you already a student at TU Dortmund University with foreign educational qualifications and would now like to change your degree program? Here you will find all relevant information.
Application
Changing Degree Programs To the First Semester
If you wish to switch to the first semester of a different degree program, you must reapply in the proper form and by the deadline, just as you did with your initial application.
Changing Degree Programs To an Advanced Semester
If you have decided on a new degree program and would like to apply for a higher semester, please follow the instructions for applying to an advanced semester.
Enrollment Period
You can apply for enrollment in the following period
- Winter semester 2026/2027: 16 June 2026 - 9 October 2026
An extension of the period is not possible.
The exact enrollment period can be found in the respective letter of admission.
Please note: A transfer is only possible once you have transferred the semester fee for the coming semester and are re-registered.

- Full name (as in passport/ID card)
- Matriculation number
- Degree program or subjects for which you wish to enroll
Attachments:
- List of required enrollment documents
- Permitted file format: pdf
- Not permitted: Cloud links, zip files and similar
- Letter of admission or letter of access
- Registration for Enrollment
- Important: Enrollment requirements for the degree program. You will need special documents for individual degree programs.
If applicable, additional documents:
- Application for recognition of examination results for entry into a higher semester
(completed in full and signed by the examination board) - degree-specific documents
- When changing to a related degree program: Confirmation from the Examination Office that no examination has been definitively failed and that the change is therefore not a problem
