Application Period
Application Period for the Summer Semester
- all degree programs: approx. beginning of November to 15 January (cut-off period)
Application Period for the Winter Semester
- German-taught degree programs: approx. mid-March to 15 July (cut-off period)
- English-taught degree programs: approx. beginning of January to 15 May (cut-off period)
Please note: The application periods for some Master's degree programs differ from the application periods listed above. Please refer to the overview below for the application period for the relevant degree program. If the degree program of your choice is not listed there, the regular application period mentioned above applies.

Application
Applications are submitted via uni-assist, the employment and service center for international student applications.

In preparation for an application via the processing and service center for international student applications,uni-assist, prospective students have to register in the online portal "My assist". After successful registration, online applications can be created and submitted for any desired degree program. All documents which are relevant for the application procedures must be uploaded to the application. It is not necessary to send these documents by post.

Processing costs are incurred for the examination of your application documents by uni-assist.
Here you can find information on the current processing times of uni-assist. If you have any further questions about the services offered, the AI-based chatbot from uni-assist can help you.
That is not a problem. The deadline refers to the date of receipt of your complete application including receipt of payment of the processing fee by uni-assist only. The deadline does not refer to the forwarding of the documents checked by uni-assist to TU Dortmund University. This can happen later.

- In case of name change: Certificate of the name change
Additional Mandatory Documents for Applicants from China, Vietnam or India
- APS Certificate
- Group APS are only accepted if they are specifically issued for TU Dortmund University.
Degree Program-Specific Documents
- Please submit documents specific to your degree program with your application.
For individual study programs, special program-specific documents are required in addition to the general application documents. Please inform yourself in advance, which study program specific documents you need.
Yes, you can apply without your final degree. In this case your application can only be checked in advance and a final decision can only be sent to you after you have submitted your final degree. The degree must usually be submitted within the application deadline. Please upload a certificate from your university to uni-assist stating the degree you are pursuing and the probable graduation date.
Some departments already indicate on their websites what minimum grade is required or what number of ECTS credits are needed in a particular field. You can check this under the enrollment requirements. If you have any questions about the degree program, please contact the Student Advisory Service.
Some Master's degree programs offer a cross-semester admission.
As a general rule, it is not possible to submit application-related documents after the application deadline. An exception is made for recognized proof of German language proficiency. For programs without admission restrictions, you may submit this proof as part of the enrollment process if you have a valid German language course certificate.
What Happens After the Application Is Submitted?
First, uni-assist will check your application. Please note the current processing times. Once the review is complete, you will receive a notification as to whether your application will be forwarded to us. If this is the case, you will receive an email with your login credentials for the Campus Portal (please check your spam folder as well). There, you can check the status of your application at any time. The department will now take over the process and evaluate your application. This process may take several weeks.
We will request any missing documents online. As soon as a decision has been made regarding your application, we will post the notification on the Campus Portal.
If you have received a letter of access/admission, the next step is enrollment.
