Information for Buddies
In order to make it easier for new international students to start their studies and everyday life in Dortmund, the International Office organizes the welcome event Come2Campus every year at the beginning of the winter semester.
A very important part of Come2Campus is the integrated Buddy Program during the Come2Campus orientation days on 06 and 07 October 2026.
It is a welcome event which aims to offer informal and friendly support for all new international students to settle down into study and life in Dortmund with the help of other TU Dortmund University students.
Note: The target group is not the exchange students (e.g. participants of the ERASMUS+ program), but new international students spending their whole studies at TU Dortmund University.
The program matches up buddies with new international students for a multi-day welcome event in the International Meeting Center (IBZ). At common activites everybody gets to know each other. The buddies are important contact persons and help the new international students to settle into their university and life in Germany.
As a buddy you will be a contact person and a source of information for others who do not know anything about studying and living in Dortmund yet. You meet people from all over the world and get to know their culture at the same time, certainly a great a chance to improve your intercultural competencies and broaden your horizon.
Buddies will be given a participation confirmation after handing in a short report about their activities with the international group. The confirmation can be used for the certificate "Studium International". More information about the confirmation and the certificate will be given by the Come2Campus team.
Come2Campus is organized in two parts: The pre-meeting and the Come2Campus event itself. There will be a preparational meeting approximately one week before Come2Campus when all buddies gather and meet the organization team. The welcome program and other organizational points will be introduced to the buddies. Further information on the participation certificate and the certificate "Studium International" will be given.
The certificate of participation for the certificate "Studium International" will be issued upon attendance at the pre-meeting, both event days, and the submission of the report.
Being a buddy at Come2Campus is a little different from the classic one on one support in the traditional buddy sense. We divide the new international students into groups according to their degree programs and/or department . As a buddy, you will look after a group together with at least two to four other buddies on the respective days. We do our very best to match the buddies and international students according to personal wishes and, above all, your field of study. We focus on an open and flexible togetherness where everyone can support each other!
