Costs
Various costs may be incurred when applying to and studying at TU Dortmund University. Information on application fees, tuition, and other study-related costs can be found on the following pages.
Application Fees
Applications are free of charge for EU/EEA citizens. Non-EU/EEA applicants who apply through uni-assist are subject to processing fees. These fees are charged for each program of study.
Semester Contribution
Every enrolled student is required to pay the semester contribution, regardless of whether they are a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral student. The fee is the same for all students, regardless of their applicant group. It must be paid for every semester in which you are enrolled at TU Dortmund University.
Amount of the Semester Fee
The amount of the semester contribution varies each semester. You can find the current semester contribution here.
- Summer Semester 2026: 321 EUR
- Winter Semester 2026/27: 339.70 EUR
- Summer semester 2027: to be announced in January 2027
Date of Payment
When you enroll, you will receive payment information in various ways: If you apply for enrollment through the Campus Portal, the payment information will be displayed in the Campus Portal after you enroll. If we have processed your enrollment application via e-mail, you will receive a provisional enrollment certificate with the information. You have 14 days from the date you receive the payment request to pay the semester contribution.
If you withdraw from the university by the Friday before the start of the lecture period, you can receive a full refund of the semester contribution. To do so, submit a refund request through the Campus Portal. If you withdraw after the start of the lecture period, the semester contribution can only be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

Tuition Fees
A few degree programs also require tuition fees. These programs are as follows:
| Advanced Methods in Particle Physics | Total tuition fees amount to approximately €1,940. That would be approximately €970 per semester (as of 2026). Further information can be found here. |
