The first step

Admission Requirements

Would you like to study at TU Dortmund University but are unsure whether you are eligible? Find out more here.

Bachelor's Degree

In order to study a Bachelor's degree program at TU Dortmund University, a Higher Education Entrance Qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung - HZB) must be proven.

A HZB can either

  • be the highest school-leaving qualification or
  • the highest school-leaving certificate together with proof of a university entrance examination, periods of study or a degree from the respective home country.

Depending on the educational qualifications, all courses of study (general HZB) or only certain courses of study (subject-specific HZB) can be studied. You may also be required to attend a preparatory college (Studienkolleg) before beginning your studies. We do not offer this program.

Master's Degree

In order to study a Master's degree program at TU Dortmund University, a Master's Entrance Qualification (Masterzugangsberechtigung - MZB) must be proven. This requirement is usually fulfilled by the completion of a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent first university degree. In addition to the MZB, admission to a Master’s program requires a subject-specific review by the relevant department. This review takes place only after your application has been received.

Some departments already provide information on their websites regarding the minimum grade required or the number of ECTS credits that must be demonstrated in a specific subject area. Please check the enrollment requirements for the respective degree program. If you have any questions about the degree program, please contact the Departmental Advisory Service.
