Language skills
In the application form students must upload a proof of their language skills.
If you will be studying in English, please submit proof of your English language skills (this does not apply to students from the USA).
If you will be studying in German, submit proof of your German language skills.
A confirmation or certificate showing your language skills is sufficient. You do not have to take a specific test or upload a specific certificate (e.g. TOEFL).

Organization of your stay
Courses
TU Dortmund University offers a wide range of courses for exchange students. You can find more information on the courses on offer, the 4-week intensive German course in preparation for the semester and other language courses on our website.
Housing
The International Office of TU Dortmund University offers exchange students the service of reserving rooms in the student dormitories of the Studierendenwerk Dortmund, as TU Dortmund University does not have its dormitories and furnished, inexpensive rooms are rare on the free housing market in Dortmund. Visa
Please note that it is your responsibility to inform yourself early enough about your individual visa and entry requirements for entering and studying in the Federal Republic of Germany. You can find further information on visas on our website .
Insurances
Due to the legal situation in Germany, exchange students require sufficient health insurance coverage in order to be able to enroll at a German university. Further information on health insurance can be found on our website.
In Germany, you are liable for personal injury and property damage caused by carelessness or recklessness. Adequate liability insurance covers this existentially threatening risk. We have compiled further information on our website .
