The CET at TU Dortmund University runs the Young Entrepreneurs in Science (Y ES) initiative in cooperation with the Falling Walls Foundation and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. YES is a nationwide workshop format in the field of start-up awareness for doctoral students and postdocs from all disciplines. The aim of the low-threshold and scalable program is to channel the expert knowledge of highly qualified young scientists into entrepreneurial paths. During the workshop days (online or face-to-face), participants learn about the creative method of design thinking, storytelling & pitch techniques and entrepreneurial tools, among other things. They apply these to their own research topics under the questions "What if I had to make a living from my dissertation tomorrow?" or "How could I make the world a little better for everyone?". The joint focus is on strengthening the start-up culture among young scientists and developing the desire for entrepreneurship as early as possible. The involvement of innovation-oriented SMEs and large companies and personal contact with founders enables a practical examination of the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship.
