Admission Requirements

Bachelor's Degree

In order to study a Bachelor's degree program at TU Dortmund University, a Higher Education Entrance Qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung - HZB) must be proven.

A HZB can either

  • be the highest school-leaving qualification or
  • the highest school-leaving certificate together with proof of a university entrance examination, periods of study or a degree from the respective home country.

Depending on the educational qualifications, all courses of study (general HZB) or only certain courses of study (subject-specific HZB) can be studied. It is also possible that a preparatory course must be completed before starting a degree course.

Master's Degree

In order to study a Master's degree program at TU Dortmund University, a Master's Entrance Qualification (Masterzugangsberechtigung - MZB) must be proven. Essentially, this is proof that a person has the necessary academic qualifications to enter a Master's degree program. These requirements are usually fulfilled by the completion of a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent first university degree.

As a rule, the degree must be in a specific subject area in order to gain access to a specific Master's degree course.  Further information can be found in the FAQ.

FAQ

No, TU Dortmund University does not offer a preparatory course ("Studienkolleg").

If you have a subject-specific university entrance qualification, you can only study courses in this subject area. Please inform yourself on anabin.

Unfortunately, we cannot make any statements as to whether you meet the admission requirements. We do not carry out a preliminary check of your documents. They will be assessed during the application process.

Once your basic admission to a Master's degree program at TU Dortmund University has been checked, we will forward your application to the relevant department. They will then check your suitability.
