After the lockdowns caused by the pandemic last year, the International Meeting Center (IBZ) started up again and offered a venue for around 100 events. Whether at conferences, meetings, networking events or language cafés - in 2022, international and German students, teachers and learners, scientists and researchers met at the IBZ for an intercultural and professional exchange.

"We are pleased that we were able to resume the strong booking years after the pandemic and that the IBZ is again used intensively as a place for international encounters, information, further education and getting to know each other," says Nena Amponsah, who coordinated the IBZ in the International Office until the end of the year.

In total, the IBZ was busy on around 167 days with both daytime and multi-day events, and in June it was almost fully booked with 23 events. The International Office alone held more than 40 events last year. These included welcome events for exchange or degree-seeking students, information formats, the 11th International Career Fair or the Global Gallery, during which outstanding projects of TU Dortmund University with an international connection were honored. The backlog of students' demand for face-to-face events was impressively demonstrated by the full IBZ at the Come2Campus orientation program for international students held at the beginning of October. The regular language café, which promotes intercultural communication and language acquisition, was also extremely well attended. Departments and institutes at TU Dortmund University made intensive use of the building last year for international events, conferences and congresses.

The IBZ event hall offers space for a maximum of 199 people. Furthermore, the barrier-free building houses three seminar rooms for smaller formats, as well as a kitchen and the representative foyer. The utilization concept of the IBZ envisages that it is primarily offered for events with an international focus. Rooms can be reserved for this purpose at the earliest one year (12 months) in advance. The International Office coordinates the booking of the rooms. The respective event organizer who books the premises is responsible for the organization of the event procedures, conversion of the rooms, catering, operation of the technical equipment etc. You can find an overview of all information about the IBZ here:

As of 2023, Annette Herberg and Jasmin Jebramek take over the coordination of the IBZ.
